In older news, I have taught myself the Russian alphabet, but now I don't know what to do next in order to actually learn the language... There was a man from Moscow who used to eat at the dining hall I worked at, and he checked my spelling once or twice. I used names to learn the letters since there wasn't much difference when the names were translated. I haven't done anything with it in a while though, so I'm starting to lose it.
Now for the bigger news. I have finished my second year at University. Saying goodbye to our apartment was a bit sad, but it was time to move on.
I really liked it there and hopefully, I'll live there again later, but the little house I'm going to be living in this fall is absolutely adorable. I don't know the girls beyond two short chats with one of them, but I think we'll get on well. The house could probably make up for anything though. When I looked it up on Google Maps I fell in love with it immediately. Perhaps love at first sight is real after all. :P It was built back in the 30's and doesn't look like it's been changed much at all. I've wanted to live in a place like that for a long time! God gives me so many big and little things and yet I still get upset when everyday things go wrong. How can I do that?
This summer, I'm working as an intern [well, actually, it's a co-op, but whatever] for Bosch and Siemens. Today marks the end of week three. Its been great so far! I am the production systems co-op which means I help the Industrial engineer with his gazillions of projects. The man is pulled in so many directions at once that I'm amazed he remembers as much as he does, and he still has time to sit and really talk to people! Plus, he's a county commissioner. I don't know how he does it. The really cool thing is that he's always up-beat too. well, mostly :) I like him a lot. I also help the manufacturing engineers with some of their various projects so that's been fun as well. Those guys are all pretty great. At least those which I've met. The company rents a group of apartments at a complex not far from the plant and that's where they stash all of us: 14 co-ops from a couple of local schools and 14 interns from Germany (It's a German company, in case that wasn't clear :)). It's cool that we're all so close. My roommate here, as it turns out, is majoring in the same field as I am at the same school as me and we're from the same town. They didn't even do that on purpose!! We get along really well and it's working out great. Tomorrow, we're going to volunteer at a bike race rest stop for a couple of hours, then go to the farmers market and from there, head to the beach!
The other co-ops and interns that we've met are nice too. every Wednesday we all get together at one of the apartments for what's called a meatbomb. Basically, everyone shows up with meat and their drink of choice and we have a grill out. That has been a new experience for both my roommate and me.
I haven't taken any pictures yet, but I plan to tomorrow, so I'll post the those then....maybe....
